Planting a Seed

After reading a post by one of my favorite bloggers I was inspired to share it with you. it is based on a conversation she had with a date about rape. Can you imagine having that conversation with someone you just met?

This ridiculous notion of night time and strangers hurting us is dumb. According to what I learned, acquaintance rape is much more common than stranger rape. I can see this as true, unless you live a in war zone where rape is a weapon used everyday. I used to go jogging at 10 pm in a less than desirable neighborhood and never got harassed. I think it was because one I am huge, and two I was moving fast. However, for as long as I can remember, I can simply walk down the street in broad daylight and be harassed to NO END!

Even though the date ended awkwardly I am proud of her for having this conversation. Perhaps she planted a seed of knowledge about what rape really is in this man’s head.

Often in life, all you can do is plant a seed, a thought, or a new idea and let that person decide.
